Modelling Scams…Don’t get caught out!

Here is the link to the recent show on BBC’s Rogue Traders programme.
We receive over 10 calls a day from parents who have fallen victim to these companies and paid 100’s and sometimes 1000’s of pounds for useless portfolios. We would like to issue a further word of warning.
Regardless of what these companies sell you, you do not need a professional portfolio taken under any circumstances to apply to a model agency. Any reputable agency will want to test you themselves and either take them for you at the agency, or direct you to a studio they recommend.
On the show, aired on 16th November 2016, the BBC exposed the photographic company Kube Studios, also trading as Luxe Models & The Model Factory, using images taken to pressurising young hopefuls into paying up to £2000 for professional images, websites & model cards.
Debi Clark, our agency Director explains, there is absolutely no need whatsoever for any aspiring model to require professional images to apply to an agency. All agencies will accept snapshots for an application and any reputable company will want to meet a new face before signing them and will arrange for them to be tested under camera in-house, or with a studio they personally recommend. This is all arranged once they have agreed to take them on the books, meaning that this ‘layer’ that these unscrupulous companies have created is completely useless.
Please do be aware of companies such as these, and also remember that there are many more trading under other similar names with the word ‘Model’ in their title!

RIVER ISLAND – Harry Sargeant

Harry had the most brilliant afternoon at River Island trying on many items. Such Lovely people very welcoming.  Harry was a little star hope he made you as proud as me.  Once Harry had finished they gave Harry and Daniel some gifts for being little Superstars which was so lovely. Thankyou Bizzykidz for Harrys 1st job he absolutely loved it and hopes to hear from them again soon.  When Harry came out he’s so funny he said ‘well as a first job Mum I think that went really well, I loved it’.

Thanks again.

Jo and Harry Sargeant xxxx

Chloe Ludlow on to pastures new

Wishing our gorgeous Chloe all the best in her future career as she flees the nest onto pastures new.

We received such a lovely email from Chloe & her 1st mum (below) and felt we just had to share it and keep it forever as a reminder of what we love most about this job.

Chloe is the perfect example of how an artist should be…gracious, confident, polite and a happy soul. A credit to her lovely mum and a great role model for those following in her footsteps.

Missing you already honey…. I cried reading the email and writing this 🙁

Good luck in everything you do, from your 2nd family (all the staff at Bizzykidz)

Dear Debi

I hope you are well

Writing this email makes me very sad but I hope you understand our reasons for making this decision.

Next month Chloe leaves college and will be starting full time work with her current company in the interim to finding her dream job.  She feels that continuing with Bizzykidz will be extremely difficult as time off for castings and jobs would be too hard, making your job difficult too.

I have emailed the parent dept as official notification but we both wanted to thank you personally for the fantastic opportunities that being with the agency for 7 years has given Chlo.  The numerous castings and jobs have given her the people skills and confidence to pursue her dream career in fashion.   You personally have been amazing and made Chloe feel a real part of the BK family, you truly are an advocate to the industry.

We look forward to seeing the remaining episodes of the documentary as I am sure this will emulate our experience of Bizzykidz.

Thank you so much and good luck with everything.

With Love

Mandi & Chloe Ludlow
